Merry Meet

You may of been wondering where we had gone! Well things have been hectic and chaotic at WynnSOft to say the least.  We have had a large number of problems, from viruses to system problems but hopefully now service should be back to normal.

As you may of noticed already the format of the Newsletter has also changed. With regards to the Rune Reading course, Magickal Dictionary, Latin Words and Myths & Deities.  We plan to post these on a weekly basis to the Website but they will no longer form part of the Newsletter. More details in the next Newsletter edition....

If you have any outstanding orders that have slipped the net due to our recent problems then please send an e-mail with the details to

This Newsletter is distributed in HTML format. If you have trouble reading this Newsletter please read it on-line by visiting:-

Website Update

The Website is currently undergoing a major update. We hope you like the new look and feel, it should hopefully make it easier to find information on the site and improve download times.  We are also in the process of adding a guestbook, discussion group and weekly poll feature.

Things are still a little temperamental at the moment, with not everything working, but please feel free to take a look when you have a moment, http://www.wynnsoft.com We appreciate any feedback so please let us know what you think by e-mailing us at Feedback@wynnsoft.com

Try a different Browser

If you have been using Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) for any amount of time you will realise it certainly has limitations.  Personally I have always been a fan of other browsers such as Opera or Netscape rather than IE. One browser that recently caught my attention was Firefox, previously called Firebird. It is a full featured browser that works extremely well and is extremely fast.  It is based on Mozilla, also known as Sea Monkey, which is open source software and hence is free!!

Firefox is somewhat of a stripped down version of Mozilla and does not contain an e-mail client. Basically this browser is built for speed and comes with some great features such as a pop up blocker, multiple tabbed windows and you can even change the whole look/feel by applying various free themes.

Firefox certainly gets my vote for ease of use and speed, so if you have not tried it for yourself please download a copy and give it a go.  I certainly feel it makes a great difference to the whole browsing experience.

Setting Daily Goals

Most of us know the importance of settings Goals for ourselves.  The problem I find with Goal Setting is you are often told to set goals for the next 1 year, 5 years, 10 years etc. Now that is fine, I agree with that to a certain extent. It is good to know where you are heading in the future. As they say without a map to show you where you are going, how will you know you have got there?

Setting long term goals I find is easy.  Easy because they do not feel real. Anything in the future is possible, so setting a goal to become a billionaire in 5 years time is not a problem.  5 years is a long time and compared to how I feel today it is actually an eternity in time value.  So everything feels easy, I could do something today to reach my goal, if not there is always tomorrow. What the hell, I have 5 years after all.

Long term goals are good as markers for the future, but in order to really achieve a long term goal you need to set daily goals. Why not weekly or monthly? Because daily goals focus your mind more than a weekly or monthly goal.

Setting a daily goal is simple. In the morning, or the night before if you prefer, decide on one goal you want to achieve today.  Of course always bear in mind your long term goals, but this goal is for today and you must make sure you complete this one thing today. Not tomorrow, not the next day or the end of the week. This daily goal must be completed today, come rain or shine. You must devote %110 effort into achieving this goal today. This goal must be at the forefront of your mind.

If you complete your goal today, reward yourself.  Always try and build in some sort of reward system for completing a daily goal.  The reward could be reading a book for an hour, an hours meditation, a piece of cake. Whatever reward suits you, build that into your daily goal setting. If you achieve your goal, you get the reward. If you fail you do not!

If you do not complete your daily goal, you have failed. There are no two ways about it.  Do not allow yourself to succumb to the temptation of allowing yourself to receive the reward you had planned. Instead make an extra effort to complete your daily goal for the next day and perhaps double the reward you had set as an extra emphasis to getting back on track.

Daily goals should not be confused with a daily task on a TODO system or Checklist.  A goal in essence is about setting an achievable target for yourself to accomplish within the time scales of one day.  Say for example your long term goals is to be a writer of fiction. So a daily goal for example may be to join a Creative Writing group. To achieve that goal it may take two or three tasks, 1) Search on the Internet for local Creative Writing Groups 2) Ring the group to find out how to join 3) Schedule the time to attend the group etc.

You might have hundreds of things to do within a day, all of varying priorities but your daily goal should take preference.  By following a daily goal routine you build mental strength. You say to yourself I will complete this goal today, when you achieve your aim day after day you mind becomes open to utilisation of these daily goals. You can then start to push limits, to increase the size or depth of your daily goal.

Use daily goals in all areas of your life, professional, personal, family and even Magickal.  Often with busy professional lives we sometimes forget to devote the time to our Magickal pursuits. Build in a daily goal to learn more about Magick, try and be specific if you can.

As mentioned once you set a daily goal, strive with all of your might to complete that goal. Do not do it half heatedly, as far as you are concerned with regards to this daily goal there is no tomorrow, only today.

But I don't have the time !!! I can hear people say.  Time is equal to all, we all have 24 hours in the day. If you feel you do not have time, look for ways to make time. We often kid ourselves in this day and age that time is our enemy, how many times have you heard somebody say "There are just not enough hours in the day". In essence time is actually our friend and the one thing from a rich man to a pauper that we all have in equal share. We all have the same amount of time, nobody has more, nobody has less. You can not save it, you can not borrow it and you can not use any less or any more than any other person.

If you are having problems with Time Management then perhaps look at time wasting activities. Watching TV for example is one the biggest time wasters. If you have problems with Time Management then perhaps your first daily goal should be to make time each and every day for your daily goals. Get up an hour earlier in the morning, delegate responsibility, avoid interruptions. If you really want to find a way you can.

WynnSOft Book of Shadows Version 2.0 Update

Versions 2.0 of WynnSOft Book of Shadows is still on the cards but not at the moment keeping to the deadlines.  A few problems have been found with regards to memory usage which is currently undergoing a fix.  These problems will hopefully be resolved within the next week and version 2.0 should be on beta release by the middle of next month, September 2004.

I know it has been a long time in the making but hopefully you will all be pleased with the results in version 2.0. We have added many new features, a smoother interface, changeable skins, print options, internet updates, contact manager section, downloadable reference material, to name just a few.  We are also building into the release schedule quarterly updates and we have a release plan that now dates to 2010 !!!

WynnSOft Book of Shadows has been neglected over the past few years but our mission is to make version 2.0 the Number 1 Magickal/Pagan related software available.

Version 2.0 final scheduled release is set for October 2004 and we are very confident that this date will not slip under any circumstances.

We will keep you posted as to the progress over the next few weeks.

Magickal Directory

At WynnSOft we are hoping to start a Magickal Directory.  This will be a directory of all Magickal Practitioners and their associated skills. We are looking to list companies or individuals that offer services paid/unpaid to the Magickal community.

If you yourself, or anybody you know, fits the category then please let us know by sending an e-mail with the relevant details to

Directory@wynnsoft.com

It is hoped over the coming months that we can build this directory into a useful Internet resource.

That's all for this week.
