You can never Fail!
Want to know what separates successful people from average people? Failure. Yes that is right, failure differentiates the two groups of people. Average people are afraid of failure, while successful people embrace failure.
Successful people embrace failure because they realise they have not actually failed. They have performed an action and created a set of results. They might not have obtained the results they were after, but any action that creates an outcome can not be a failure. They learn from the results they get and modify their actions to change those results.
Average people take failure hard, they take it personally. They tend not to view failure as a set of results arrived by a set of actions. They view it as a personal insult. More often than not they make no effort to change their own actions to influence a new set of results.
If you think about failure in a different way, failure no longer remains failure. It actually becomes just feedback.
For example, say you went to take your driving test and rather than pass you fail. There are two ways of looking at it. You can take it personally, get emotional, upset and feel disappointed. The result, you are not further along and you have still failed.
Alternatively you can turn it around and gather the feedback, learn from the experience. Your actions in this case stopped you from passing the driving test. So what do you need to do next time in order to pass? Was there a particular area that needs improvement? What action do you need to take in order to change the outcome? One thing is for sure, you will certainly have a better idea of how the test is structured ready for next time. There is always something to be gained from every endeavour, some type of feedback.
Try if you can to look at failure in a different light, in Anthony Robbins excellent book 'Unlimited Power' he quotes a superb example of how to view failure.
Thomas Edison after he tried 9,999 times to perfect the electric light bulb was asked by someone "Are you going to have ten thousand failures?". He answered "I didn't fail. I just discovered another way not to invent the electric light bulb".
The only way to really fail, is to stop trying. As long as you keep trying you will keep producing results. If you don't like the results, don't view them as failure. View them as feedback. Modify your actions to achieve a new set of results.
In this way you can never Fail!

A few queries have come in recently with regard to the current standing of WynnSOft Book of Shadows. Well just to let you know this project is still ongoing. The current release schedule will see WynnSOft Book of Shadows version 2.0 released by the end of August 2004.
The reason it has now jumped to version 2.0 is because it is currently being re-written from the ground up. In essence this will be completely new software. Although the information anybody has entered into version 1.0 can be transferred quite easily. We will for anybody that has trouble, offer a free database transferral service.
Our aim is to make version 2.0 easier to install and use. Update the user interface. Incorporate a more journal type of approach for the BOS itself. Streamline and speed up the database access. Easier and more advanced search capabilities and a whole host of other features. Basically bring it up-to-date with the current software trends.
All registered users will receive a free update to the software, there will also be a bonus thrown in for all registered users (more information on the bonus closer to the release date). Our way of saying thank you for your support of WynnSOft over the years.
We are always looking for feedback and if you have any suggestions on Magickal related software you would like to see, or additions to WynnSOft Book of Shadows then please let us know. Either by sending an email to Feedback@wynnsoft.com or visiting http://www.wynnsoft.com/feedback
A Rune Reading program is also planned, the current draft is for it to act as a casting program for reading but also to act as a teaching tool for anybody that wants to learn Rune Reading. We hope to incorporate a memory matrix method of learning within the program.
There are a few other projects in the pipeline as well, but I will let you know about them nearer the time.
Bright Blessings

Maanaz - The Self

Rune Description = Humanity; Mankind; the self; inner being; soul; manhood or womanhood
The first rune. The starting point is the self its essence is water. From this Rune you draw a correct relationship not only with yourself, which is primary, but from it flow all possible correct relationships with others. Mannaz counsels to remain modest regardless of your position in life. To remain open to the world and not closed. Focus on the here and now, understand that life follows patterns things coming to be and passing away. Mannaz calls for the person to experience the true present and not the perceived present. To learn from the past, look to the future, but live in the now. Everything requires balance even the self. With Mannaz it flags that a person should start to get to know their true self. Cut away the mask that they show to the outside world.
Reversed

When Mannaz is drawn reversed it signals a blockage in the persons path. In order to clear that blockage they need to be true to themselves. They have to look inside to find what is causing the problem, there is no point turning to others when this drawn. This is all about coming to terms and recognising an area of their life that they may be blocking by their own actions. In order to move on in their spiritual life they need to address whatever hinders their progress. They need to make sure they do not give themselves false airs and graces as a way to mask their true problems. When Mannnaz is drawn reversed a real challenge is ahead, but a challenge with the self and not with others.
Next Week:- Gebo (Partnership)
Action Plan for the week.
Change the way you view failure. Remember the only time you can fail is when you stop trying. Look for the feedback in every experience, if you don't get the planned result from your actions then make a change.
Latin word for the week. (Latin is very useful for reading old Magickal Texts)
