Meditation is a way in which we can become at peace with ourselves and also the world around us.
Anybody can meditate and all it takes is a quiet place were we can relax and will not be interrupted.
If you combine meditation with Shamanic Pathworking, you can open up a new world to yourself. A world of Faeries, Elves, Dwarfs and all sorts of mystical creatures and beings. On Otherworld journeys you can find a host of answers to your present day queries and problems. It can open up your mind to all sorts of possibilities, fuelling your imagination and your subconscious mind.
If you have never tried Pathworking, then listed below is a sample exercise.
Sample Meditation/Pathworking Exercise
Find a quiet place were you will not be interrupted.
Sit comfortably in an upright position and close your eyes. You may find listening to soothing music aids in your relaxation but that is down to personal preference.
Take a few deep breaths then imagine your entire body encased in a Blue/White light. This light outlines your body and is your psychic defence, similar to casting a circle when performing Magick. Nothing can penetrate this light, unless you want it to. This light will be with you throughout your journey.
Inhale deeply, feel the energy around you. Assure yourself that you are protected and no harm will come of you.
Start to relax, starting with your toes and slowly moving up through your body. You can feel your muscles becoming relaxed. Pay special attention to your tension points, your neck and head. Don't rush, feel the tension flood from every muscle. You are completely relaxed and at peace with yourself. Feeling protected with your Blue/White light shield.
Look straight ahead, before you is an old Well with a rusty bucket. The Well is made from old grey stone, with a wooden canopy painted red. Walk over to the Well. Take all of your troubles, concerns, worries and place them in the red bucket. You don't need them here. Place your hands on the winding mechanism and slowly lower your troubles into the Well. You see your troubles disappearing from site. Your hear a splash, your troubles have gone. Slowly wind the bucket back up, the bucket is empty, your troubles in this world are no longer with you.
You see a dirt path that leads to a small hill, on top of the hill you see an object which looks like a stone table. You start to follow the path. You hear birds singing, you smell the perfume of flowers, you see rabbits hopping along in the tall grass.
When you reach the hill you see the table in it full glory. A marble table, with symbols carved into the stone. Symbols of a world long gone. A tray sits on the table, made from gold, with a large Silver bell sitting in the middle. Either side of the table are two plinths/seats. You take a seat. You hold the bell and ring it once. The sounds echoes around the landscape.
From the distance you see a tall man walking towards you. Dressed in the long white robes and holding a tall staff. The man is old, the man is wise. His grey beard spreads down to the rope tied around his tunic. You know instinctively that he is your guide in this world. He is a friend.
He takes the seat opposite to you and holds out his hand in friendship. He gives you his name and you tell him yours.
He asks you why you have visited this place, and what is your purpose. You give your reasons. He asks how he can help you in your journey. You ask questions to which he answers, he asks question to which you answer.
This is only the first of many journeys, so once you are ready you thank him for his time and bid him farewell.
You rise from your seat and take the dirt path back to the Well. Once you are back at the well, you once again think of your physical body. The White/Blue light slowly starts to subside. You feel at ease with yourself, relaxed. You are back in your physical body. The meditation is over.
